Hope For Children

Hope for Children : Children have to grow up way too fast in India. Lack of resources and access to basic healthcare mean injury and illness take a massive toll on families. Families end up in debt to loan sharks, trying to cover education, then children have to leave school to help pay the debt.Very often because they have been orphaned, abandoned or need to help care for a sick parent, our girls and boys never get the chance to get a basic education. Education is the key to getting out of the poverty trap. The AMEN Sponsor a Child programme enables disadvantaged families to provide education for their children.

Amen Trust work to free children and poor families from lives of pain, abuse, poverty and darkness., children are exposed to horrendous physical and sexual abuse. Those who survive are left to fend for themselves, with no promise of a safe future. They are forced to work from as young as five years of age to earn money for food and so cannot go to school. Our educational programs focus on ensuring quality education for children living in poverty and enabling them with knowledge and skills they need to succeed in school – and life. We provide opportunities for extracurricular activities including life skill education to equip them for the real world. Education is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation. But children’s education cannot be done in isolation. A child must go to school. A child will go to school only if the family, particularly the mother, is assured of healthcare and empowered. Moreover, when an elder sibling is relevantly skilled to be employable and begins earning. And the journey of empowerment continues beyond the present generation. Our approach is unique in that we empower not just children but also those around them–parents, teachers and community members, who play a key role in shaping their lives and future.
